David López

Artist

David graduated in illustration from the Zaragoza School of Art of in 1996. That same year he started publishing comics in the fanzine 451º where he met many authors from Zaragoza with whom he would share his career. He entered the professional sphere with Espiral (1998) published in the Brut collection of La Cúpula.


In 2000, Lopez started working for the big American publisher Marvel, and later also for DC Comics, where he worked on titles such as Fallen Angel(2002, co-created with Peter David) and; Catwoman(2004), which he drew uninterrupted for 30 issues, breaking several records.


In 2008, he returned to Marvel for a closer collaboration in Avengers: The Reunion (2008), bringing love of major superheroes to Zaragoza. David continued at Marvel, drawing for for some of its flagship series: X-Men, Spider-Man, & Guardians of the Galaxy.


Lopez's most influential contribution to the Marvel mythology has been his work together with writer Kelly Sue DeConnick on Captain Marvel (2014), the run that inspired the 2019 movie based on the character.


David returned to creator owned comics in 2017 with BlackHand & IronHead. This graphic novel was first published digitally by Panel Syndicate, and later published by: Panini Italia (2018), Astiberri (2019) in Spain, Dargaud (2019) in France, and Image(2020) in the US.


David López has worked for the best publishers in the world and has drawn some of their most iconic characters, receiving nominations for major industry awards across Europe and American.


In addition to continuing to draw covers for major publishers, he is working again with Kelly Sue DeConnick on their new creator owned book FML for Dark Horse Comics.
